This wine rack and console table commission was a considerable undertaking. The top and one leg are both made from a single 50mm thick English oak slab, ethically sourced from a timber merchant in Sussex, that I surfaced by hand. With the other leg and shelves made from European oak. It’s finished with oil to highlight the warm tones in the oak slab top, oil finishes also keep the timber feeling very tactile.

After consulting with the client we decided on this more contemporary design with open shelves because it matched nicely with the style of the rest of the furniture in the space. As with every bespoke piece of furniture I make, the design process was key in a successful piece and a happy client.
